 The last few weeks, from multiple folks, I’ve had questions about Kindle and Nook tablets. So, if you’re an expert on Kindle, Nook, Google Play Books, or other Ebook readers, please feel free to jump in and add any helpful information you wish in the comments below. The questions were simple and I’m thankful folks made the effort to ask, because of that “Knowledge is power” thing I love to toss around. In this case, asking questions saved some money for people who’re wanting to read books that are sometimes only available in Ebook format. So, I’m gonna share the same info with the flashPress readers, since a few of you were some of those who posed the questions. Kindle and Nook readers are freeeeeeee!You don’t have to purchase a Kindle or Nook tablet to read Ebooks. If you have a computer (including tablets and smart phones) you're already equipped to read Ebooks on Kindle, Google Play Books and Nook. All of these are available in easy-to-use, totally free apps that can be downloaded to all of your devices. Once you have the readers on your devices, your devices can synchronize the information on them. Example ... if I download a book to the Kindle app on one of my Android phones, then whatever books I have on it, and in my entire online Kindle library, will automatically be synchronized with the Kindle app on my Windows laptop and tablet, as well as my Android tablet. If you’re an i-Whatever-gadget user, it’ll work the same on your devices, too. This goes for all Ebooks available on Google Play Books, Kindle and Nook. You only pay for the books you choose to purchase, but you can also get loads of books for free. With Kindle and Nook, you can even buy Ebooks for friends. I’ve not yet seen this option with Google Play Books, although they can be purchased with Google Play Gift Cards. Not as savvy, but it works. Where to get the appsTo download a Kindle, Nook or Google Play Books app to your smartphone, tablet or browser go to the browser's app store (or your computer's app store), do a search for whatever Ebook reader you want to use, or all off them, then download them to your device, or to your device’s browser. I have Kindle on both my laptop as well as in my Chrome browser. My Google Play Books and Nook apps are only on my laptop's Chrome browser, but the apps are on all of my mobile devices. To download a Kindle or Nook Program to your computer, just click the links I've provided for you below, depending on what type of machine you want to download it to.
Prefer paper only?I love paper books and always will. The trouble with getting paperbacks for me has been waiting until I had time to go shop for them. After buying them, there's a storage issue. Between my sister and I, we could pack at least a whole wing in a library with the books we’ve accumulated over the years, which is why over time, Ebooks became the better option for us in most cases. They’re available anywhere we have access to WiFi. We get them immediately and don’t have to drive into the city, find a parking space (if it’s a big city and the book shoppe is downtown), and later go through the agony of which books has to be removed from our home libraries to make room for the new ones. (Just typing that felt sacrilegious.) So, in the bigger picture, technology wins because with it, I have access to the content, which is the most important aspect of any book. If the content is spoken, carved into a stone, scratched onto papyrus, messaged in sign language or smoke signals, however it can make its way from the messenger to the recipient, doesn’t matter so much as long as it arrives in an understandable fashion. Wherever I am with one of those devices, I’m still in the library, or a book shoppe. I don't even have to be online to read the books I've added to my collection. I only have to ensure I've downloaded them to my device. As long as it's working, I can read my books, magazines or news articles anywhere I want to. Book prices
