The Rain and Everything by Prof. Maria C. Jordan

Once upon a time I prayed for help and the good Lord sent Maria. 

I'd been working on an important project for nine months. The deadline to finish was the end of October. It was already September and I had a long way to go before it would be finished.

I was short on content. Short on techno-know-how. Short on energy and good health. 

I needed help or I'd not only miss the deadline, the project wouldn't be completed for months.

Although I had long been in habit of praying for God's guidance and assistance for most every area of my life, one day, feeling overwhelmed, I specifically and earnestly prayed for Him to please help me get the project finished in time.

Miracles sometimes come via WiFi

Within an amazingly short amount of time, as in less than a week, I got an email from Prof. Maria C. Jordan, known to her friends as Mar or Teach. She knew of my project but I'd not told her it had morphed into an impossible mountain that I was failing to climb. 

For some that might not be a big deal. To me it was a HUGE deal.

It was the first of two book projects, both dear to my heart and for a good while I worried I might not live to complete them. 

If I couldn't finish the first one, the easier one, I had no hope of finishing the more challenging one later. 

I hadn't asked Maria for help, yet there it was in the email. An offer to assist. 

Now, bein's I'd just prayed for God to lend me aid, I accepted! Maria didn't just join in and start working herself, she went further and reached out to other experienced writers and folks with technical knowledge who all stepped in to help us, for free!

One week before the deadline the project was completed. In October of 2013 Mysterious & Miraculous Book I hit the amazon.com electronic book shelves.

This was superbly special because ... 

• It was a project I had longed to do for quite some time.

• It was a book that held stories (many of incredibly inspirational incidents of a miraculous nature) from people who weren't likely to ever have their story produced in a book. Now, there they are, for themselves and future generations.
  
• The monies earned from the book sales were (are) going to worthwhile group doing fantastic things for others, the K9s for Warriors Organization.
  

That's just a tiny drop in the bucket of the help team-Jordan provided to get not just MMB1 but also Mysterious & Miraculous Book II produced in time for the Christmas that same year. Adding to alllllll that, she was also instrumental in establishing and becoming a founding member of the Legacy Archives Foundation where (via their website) you can learn more about these books, the individuals who gave freely to produce them, and where the monies earned are being distributed.

A familiarity with the miraculous...

Maria is no stranger to miracles. If you get to know her, and I encourage you to do just that, you'll understand why. She's a miracle herself.

Her own story of surviving a terrible, and I mean terrible situation as a hostage and multiple-gunshot survivor will break your heart yet fill your heart with hope and reminders of the many things most of us have to be thankful for.

A professor by day, a wordsmith by night

In comparison, I've said of Sunnie Day's books that to experience one of Sunnie's amazing stories is to feel the brush of an angel's wing across your brow.

To experience one of Maria's books is to rest on the porch, catching the scent of rain in the breeze, while the gentle thrumming of drops on leaves washes away your worries and fatigue. 

For a farm girl, who's walked miles and miles of crop rows in Southern Indiana's humid heat, that scent coupled with that sound translates to God loves us.

The Rain and Everything is a compilation of the works of Maria Jordan. It contains many beautiful excerpts of work from her previous books, but is also wonderfully blended with new work fresh from her heart's garden.

Maria loves florals, and this book is essentially a magnificent bouquet splashed with that refreshing spring rain.

I was moved and enchanted with the palette of short stories written about the the people who'd helped shape her life. Episodes of family, friends, teachers and patients are threaded into the chapters making for a fascinating and detailed tapestry that is genuinely visible in Maria, as a person.

Not a single bit of it is boring or insignificant. From start to finish this book will cradle your attention.

The best medicine

Maria is a nurse, and a teacher of nurses. Like all quality nurses and teachers, she learns as much from her students and patients as she gives. Many amazing people have gifted her experiences and knowledge that she's shared with us in The Rain and Everything.

Sometimes the best medicine is derived naturally. A walk in the park to watch some swans-a-swimming, a friendly smile from age-lined lips, the bubbly giggle of a baby, the whap-whap of a excited K9's tail, wagging in excitement when we've walked through the door, or the nicker and nuzzle of a horse's soft nose as they step in to greet us.
