Often they can’t be delivered in fancy wrapping paper decked out with bows and ribbons. Sometimes they don’t come in a package at all. Packaged or not, they leave an impression that can outdo loads of other gifts, and sometimes cost little-to-nothing. I’ve been remembering several years spent in medical field, working with residents of convalescent centers and nursing homes. It’s not true that all residents of these facilities are elderly. Sometimes they’re young folks whose families are either not able physically or professionally to deliver the care they require. I wish I could say all caregivers in these facilities are kind-hearted folks who love being able to help others. Unfortunately, that’s often not even close to the truth. However, the bad apples aren’t the ones I’m focusing on in this post. This one's for the good folks who sincerely love to bless others with priceless gifting. They do it in all sorts of places for all sorts of people in living and care facilities for folks with special needs and beyond. Priceless gifting isn’t limited to a small scope of folks with special needs or who are in special, or challenging circumstances. Here’s an example of one my sister and I received this week from one of my close friends, pro blogger, Maria Jordan of marcoujor’s musings, and her household. It’s the third year running I’ve received one of these. Each time I’ve been passed the envelope after it’s fetched from the mailbox, I get excited. The card is a notification of a gift. The gift is prayer. The card lets me know I (this year, we, as in me and my sister, Alicia) will be specifically mentioned in daily prayer service by a group of folks whose lives are dedicated to service and sharing the gospel of Christ, for the whole year. Yup ... priceless (for countless reasons). I don’t care that my friends and I are not of the same denomination. I’m thrilled knowing my name and my sister’s name are being launched toward Heaven in prayer every day for a year. Knitting a CommunityA few thousand miles away from me and my friend Maria, our mutual friend and colleague, Vicki Warner of WarnerWords, meets with a group of folks every week, in Gibsons, BC, Canada. This talented group of artisans has a passion for for making beautiful pieces from a variety of materials. They crochet. They knit. They quilt. They make pretty, useful things. They could all sell their work, and some do, but a good bit of it is made and presented as gifts to others. Back in 2014, Vicki wrote a post titled, Knitting A Community. It explains what they do and features some of the pieces they’ve produced for others, at no cost to the recipients. These talented folks are another example of how easy it is to engage in and reap great rewards from priceless gifting. It’s a super fun read and I hope you’ll click the link in the post title above, or either pic below, and have a look at it. Images compliments of WarnerWords Thoughts?I’ve given you these scenarios to hopefully entice you to consider what things you consider doing to produce your own priceless gifting. There are just so many things that can be done that aren’t expensive or too time consuming to be effective with, such as Operation Christmas Child, Soldiers’ Angels, Adopt a Grandparent, visiting a shut-in, or putting in some volunteer hours at a hospital, retirement or homeless shelter. These are just some ideas and suggestions I hope you’ll find helpful and inspiring for your own quest in priceless gifting, if you’ve not yet got your own gig going already. If you do, feel free to share via email or comments. I’d love to read all about it. ShoutOutsThe wrap! That's it for this one!
God bless you, thanks for the read and see you next week! femmeflashpoint
