It's been five years since Dr. Jack Hawthorne's gone poking around in tombs of the dearly departed. Instead of pursuing his life's passion, he's been spending time lecturing in a university classroom and reading texts on a computer screen rather than deciphering hieroglyphics carved into ancient stone walls. After a nightmarish incident at a dig site that buried a loved one and several students alive under hundreds of pounds of desert sand, Jack's been content to while-away his time in a more secure and peaceful environment, pushing his calling to the back of his mind where it can't hurt him, or anyone else he cares for. He'd settled into navigating easily and without challenge through a safe, predictable lifestyle until a call from Dallas, Texas tore his stale little existence to shreds. Suddenly things are more lively than he'd ever dreamed possible and more dangerous than he wants to bother contemplating. Regardless, it's gotten hold of him -- that old familiar love and calling that makes him tick. Once started he finds it impossible to shut down and turn away from until he unearths every stone, deciphers every hidden symbol and crosses every ocean and international border to find what he's seeking. Jack's back ...
His name is Gordon Reese and he's desperate. Mr. Reese will stop at nothing to ensure a treasure is found that he believes will save his own skin and the life of his loved one. He's willing to spend all that's required to aid Jack in finding a dead man's bones. Elijah and Elisha - God's special men In the bible's old testament, Elijah (whose name translates to My God is Yahweh) was his era's chief prophet of Israel. He was described as a man who stood with courage during troubled times when the Israeli people had largely moved away from worshiping Jehovah to the worship of idols and false-Gods called Baal and Asherha. Elijah wielded faith and power and dealt curses on Israel of the likes that hadn't been seen since Moses went toe-to-toe with the Egyptians. Per scripture, when the showdown happened between Elijah and the priests of Baal, the odds were 450-to-Elijah. With the priests of Asherha, they were at least a little better, being only 400-to-Elijah. In both confrontations, biblical history teaches that getting on Elijah's bad side was to fall into the hands of an angry God. He was the victor in both confrontations. Elijah is noted for being one of only two biblical figures that are described to have not suffered physical death. 11 As they were walking along and talking together, suddenly a chariot of fire and horses of fire appeared and separated the two of them, and Elijah went up to heaven in a whirlwind. Elijah's devoted follower, student and disciple was Elisha, whose name means, Salvation of God. Elisha was as dedicated in living a life for God as his teacher was, and motivated to continue making a difference in the lives of his countrymen. Elijah is written to have performed 14 miracles during his ministry. In receiving a double-portion of his teacher's power from God, the miracles Elisha performed are documented to have been 28. The miracles related to Elisha didn't stop even when death claimed him and he crossed into eternity. It is written that an Israeli soldier's remains were quickly placed in Elijah's tomb (or grave). When the soldier's body touched Elisha's bones, he was brought back to life. Mr. Reese has discovered what he believes to be an ancient and secret society that have been the keepers of Elisha's bones since then. He also believes that what power God has given, never wanes. If he can acquire the bones of the prophet, his life and that of his loved one will be saved. Treachery ... Unfortunately, Mr. Reese is not the sort who plays fair, or nice. The lives of others mean nothing to him and to get what he wants, he will kill anyone who stands between him and the dead prophet. Jack finds himself in the cross-hairs of competitors. Even as he's only scratched the surface of the trail people begin dying violent deaths and the death toll maintains and rises as he continues each leg of his quest claiming the lives of both enemies and friends. For as much physical, mental and even spiritual anguish it's causing him, Jack can't quit. He's being driven on, perhaps by a force that's he far more familiar with than he wants to admit -- one he's denied the existence of for most of his life ...

femme - great work!! When I read your amazing review of 'Elisha's Bones', my first thought was how fortunate the author is to have you write it! You just seem to get better and better with these things! My next was one of pure inspiration . . . I'd better get writing, so that I could beg you to write one of equal quality for me!! But it's going to take me a while on my new project . . .!

Holy mackerel, Femme! You've missed your calling. You should really consider become a professional book reviewer. You make every story sound exciting, even if it's not a genre the authors' readers would normally reach for on the bookshelves.
