I love to see journalists joining the ranks of pro bloggers in the indie biz community. Recently, there have been a couple of newcomers that are getting quickly established on their own platforms, writing under their own brands. I'm excited about the privilege of getting to share news about their work with you as well as provide an introduction and links to their sites.
One of the newest sites within the blogging community is RainsWriter. It's owned by journalist, Ann Rains, who also serves as a columnist and editor for a few area news papers as well as my favorite local newspaper, the New-Harmony Gazette of New Harmony, Indiana.
A new back-home beginning...
Although Ann moved away from the area to spend several years living and working in the beautiful state of Maine, she's back on her native soil and waterways of Posey County in Southern Indiana.
I first became familiar with her work as it appeared in the New-Harmony Gazette, a vintage newspaper from the early 1800s that has been resurrected by local publisher and journalist, Dan Barton of New Harmony.
Anne's contributions to local news media has provided an engaging variety of topics for her readers. Spending many years in collegiate academic fields of education and fine arts, she maintains an ongoing passion and participation in a variety of outdoor activities and sports, including gardening, hiking, cycling, kayaking and weekly sessions of Tai Chi with Sifu Ron Weatherford.
Her wide-range of interests provide her readers with journalism of time-sensitive local news interests but also information that goes far beyond the borders of the rivers lands, much of which includes writings on her personal interests and experiences elsewhere.
Although she's brand new to working with her online platform, she's already gaining ground in developing a growing readership and fanbase. Her website launch came about around the same time as a relocation process. Switching her office space to new digs has provided a time and schedule challenge but in my estimation, all things considered, she’s doing a great job at developing content and responding to fan-mail and comments from readers.
Ann has authored three books and continues to write for local news publications. She’s an excellent asset in spreading the word about sources of interest within the indie biz community. She’s also active in participation of community events. If you're attending one in the area, you're likely to see her there too. If so, I hope you’ll take a moment to introduce yourself and extend a greeting.
In or out of the area, I hope you'll stop by her website and have a look around. It's located at annrains.weebly.com and there you can reach out to her via the comments areas on the RainsWriter blog or via the site's contact page.
She’s wonderful at responding to fan mail and replying to comments on RainsWriter. She also plans to have a virtual tip jar installed on her site soon, and the Tips for Talent Club is looking forward to having her as a new member in the ranks of pro-indie bloggers. In a recent get-together at the NHGazette office, Ann said she's already been requested by some of her readers to make tipping available on her site and will be getting the option made available to them soon.
It's always encouraging to hear good news about growth within the indie biz pro-blogging community and to learn that reader appreciation via tipping talented writers is catching on and gaining ground, further improving the potential income for pro-online journalism.
That's it for this one!
God bless you, thanks for the read and see you back again next Tuesday!
The smallest tip goes the longest way--like a good cup of coffee.

flashPress is a totally free site, but, if you like it and would like to leave a tip, I'll surely put it to good use on things like food, clothes, fuel for my auto, soap to shower with, etc. I think those qualify for seriously good use. ☺
