Let me regale you with this awesome-sauce, all-natural product I found while browsing through the display of assorted essential oils, organic body sprays and a few other related items in Elbert's Natural Food Market of Evansville, IN. There was a small, brown spray bottle on the top shelf, simply labeled: Body Oil Mister, Hippie Chic, the ingredients, and at the very bottom, SixthStreetSoapery.com and an Evansville, IN address. There was only one bottle available, and it was even missing its cap but I was curious, so I spritzed a tiny amount onto my wrist. In less than a second, I was in love with the scent. The little round price tag listed it as $5.99, so of course, I bought it. My purchase reasons were because it was all natural, smelled intoxicating and at only $5.99, I’d invested very little if I ended up not liking it later. However, that wasn’t even close to how it panned out. I had no idea how much more I was gonna get and be dazzled by in that little bottle of blended oils. From simple perfume to...?At first I used it just as a perfume. I’d spritz it where I wanted it, apply a bit of water to spread it and it worked great, with a delicious scent lasting for hours and my skin very soft wherever I'd applied it. It worked so well, I branched out and began using it as a daily moisturizer, even on my face. Add yet another unsuspected benefit. I went a bit further and started using it as a moisturizer for my dreadlocks after showering, too. (Fellow dreadies, here's your sign.) If being a perfect non-stinging or pore-clogging face/throat and over-all moisturizer wasn’t enough of a perk, I found out (while using it as such) I was tanning in areas I’d applied it that are nearly always exposed to the sun when I’m outdoors. No burn, just tan. What sunburn I sometimes get usually turns into a tan. Still, I'd rather skip the burn and I've had trouble with skin reactions to most tanning products. Now, it's no longer an issue. Now I'm not getting burned at all. I’m in the sun nearly every day for at least an hour or more, but sometimes I’m in it nearly all day long. Still, tan only and no burn when I’m wearing this oil (which these days is always). Not saying it will do the same for everyone, but after a bit of snooping, I’ve discovered others are having the same experience. So, I wanted to be sure to share that oh-so-important information with you. For the record, this product isn’t marketed anywhere on the label as a sunscreen or moisturizer. Nonetheless, it's performing perfectly as both for me and I’m gonna keep on using it for that purpose and others. The hunt! When we find products like this, I'd hope most of us would want to share the info with our near and dear, yes? So, I went hunting for the talented mixologist who put this blend together. I navigated to the domain address listed on the bottle and landed on a sleek, inviting and easy-to-use website. It housed beautiful images of soaps and other bath and body items, but, (gasp and to my horror!) my wonder-oil wasn’t listed on the site. Before disappointment dropped a dark cloud of gloom over my desk, I quickly scanned the home page for a contact number and voilà! (It’s at the bottom right of the site’s page--you know, cause you’ll need it for when you get ready to call them yourself.) I dialed them up and my call was answered by Mary, who happened to be one of the nicest folks I’ve ever had an impromptu interview with. She’s also the owner and the scent-artist that produced my new fav-of-favs oil blend. I learned that although the oil isn’t (yet) listed on her site, she does still offer it. She'd even made up a new batch recently. I’m quite thankful for that and hope it’s listed on the site eventually because I’m pretty sure that the more folks who have a chance to try this stuff are gonna love it as much as I do. We visited for a bit and near the end of our conversation, she agreed to let me get back with her soon to schedule a visit to her shop for an onsite interview and photo shoot. You can visit her site too by clicking either of her site images below. Where to get your own little brown bottle of her amazing oil blendIf you’re local you can get it from these two places (website links are embedded)...
If you’re not local, don’t fret. You can order it and get it mailed to you, at least within the U.S and Canada (and possibly to other countries, but please check with them first, before purchasing). I’m obviously star-struck with this little business and I’m doing all I can to help spread the word about them. Hope you’ll do the same and share this with everyone who loves to support independent business producing high-quality products that are good for us and eco-friendly. ShoutOutsThe wrapA big thanks to Mary of the Sixth Street Soapery for all the information she provided at a moment’s notice and for agreeing to a follow up interview featuring her business and her full array of organic products. Also, if you’ve not yet had a look at my new Ebook, FarmaCopeia: The Little Book on Lavender, available on amazon.com, I hope you will. I also hope you’ll consider recommending it to anyone you think might find it helpful in their quest of being more familiar with gardening, herblore, natural food enhancements, health benefits and remedies. That’s it for this one! God bless you, thanks for the read, thanks for the tips and looking forward to visiting with you again next week! femmeflashpoint
