Are you a rock hound? How about just a rock lover? I've been both and I’m not alone. I know loads of people who love rocks. Rocks have fascinated me since I was a kid. My sibs and I were constantly on the lookout for the special ones--Indian beads (tiny, ribbed, cylindrical fossils), arrowheads, chunks of quartz and fool's gold. Many hours were spent picking through small piles of them scooped by hand and dropped into whatever bowl or pan we could find to sort them from, culling what we wanted to keep from the rest which ended up in our pebble driveway. My close friend and colleague, Vicki Warner of WarnerWords and I toured this shop in autumn of 2015, while collaborating on some literary projects in and around Vicki’s home on the Sunshine Coast We loved it and were grateful to be allowed to linger for photos. I used them to make a short video tour for you below. The pics don't do the place justice but I hope they qualify to give you a good idea of the beautiful items displayed there. The shop is located in Roberts Creek, BC, Canada.. More specifically, 1053 Roberts Creek Rd. Roberts Creek, BC v0n2w0, above the Old Gumboot Garden Cafe. Here’s what their Facebook page lists as directions once you arrive at the address... “above the Old Gumboot Cafe in Roberts Creek. Find the door near the patio and come on upstairs!” Mind you, there is a difference in the Old Gumboot Garden Cafe and the Old Gumboot Restaurant. Both are awesome though so, if you're hungry, it's a hard decision to decide which to visit. They even use fresh herbs in their foods produced in their own garden, located right on the property. We're talking fresh and delicious at it's finest! If you're ever in the vicinity and haven't this place yourself, please do and you’re in for a treat! This is another of those amazing indie biz shops that I hope you'll consider next time you're on the lookout for a gift or personal reward. From geode bookends to crystal lighting, there are loads of pieces to choose from, all naturally unique. The shop also carries a small variety of un-rocklike items, but of them, most are rock and nature related. Whatever the age or interest, I’m pretty sure you’ll find a variety of cool gift options for nearly anyone. I was unable to locate a proper website for them but they do have a Facebook page. You can click here to view it. The page lists ways of getting in touch with them in event you want to browse their items virtually, and when speaking with the shopkeep, we learned that they receive from and ship items all over the world. Here's the short video tour I promisedSee? I told you it'd be short. ☺ Now, on to the final stretch... ShoutOutsThe wrap! Before I close, I want to give a big shout of thanks to the tippers!
You're awesome and your support of indie biz is much appreciated and I'm sure that's shared by all of the pro bloggers in the Tips for Talent Club. For those of you who'd never used PayPal for tipping before, thanks so much for taking the time to get familiar with it and for sharing the concept with others. That's it for this one! God bless you, thanks for the read and looking forward to having you back again next Tuesday. femmeflashpoint
