"It is a beacon of hope to take the necessary steps after suffering a major loss. It is a coaching process that allows an individual to eliminate what is not working and discover what will work along their personal journey of recovery after their world has suddenly changed." Kimberly Wolf If you, or someone you know, is struggling with grief, I encourage you to get acquainted with Kimberly Wolf of Destination Unlimited. Kim is much more than a grief support specialist and counselor. She's one of those special folks with a sincere and gentle nature who is genuinely motivated to help bruised souls make their way to healing and experiencing a happy life again. After experiencing the pain of some personal losses, as well as spending several years in the funeral service industry, Kim founded Destination Unlimited in 2006, with the focus of working with those who have suffered any sort of loss and are needing help in dealing with it. "We have all suffered loss of some sort. A job, a relationship, our health, and sometimes during a substantial loss we can even lose sight of our own identity in the process. "I help individuals who have suffered a loss. I coach them through the process of grieving. I simply take them about nine months out from their loss in order for the normal flow of grief to occur. The shock and denial phase, the bargaining phase, the anger phase -- eventually they hit the wall of reality and depression begins to take over. "This is usually around the time the phone calls have stopped and they are struggling to get back to normal, yet their new normal is confusing and often very discouraging. "After a loss, most of us want things to go back like they used to yet we can't seem to get our lives flowing again. Sometimes we we get stuck. "I have an array of examples and tools that really help people get to thinking about their lives again. We begin to unpack and face the kaleidoscope of emotions they have been feeling and we get to the root causes of those powerful emotions that grief can create. "Some people may think this is going to sound crazy, but I teach people how to hear God. I mean after all, God is our Father and Healer and so I take a spiritual approach to their healing. It is not about religion and rules but about asking God, face to face, 'Where are YOU in this and what are YOU teaching me?' "It is so amazing to see their response when they are given permission to go boldly into the throne room and simply talk to God about everything. There is so much to tell I could literally write a book about what I have witnessed people go through in doing this and the amazing places their journey to healing has taken them. "The end result is they are healed, equipped, discipled and set free to step into the next destination that God has for them. It’s really a personal journey they take with the Lord. I'm simply the co-pilot, getting to go along for the ride…" "It chose me."In our interview, I asked Kim why she chose the grief support and pastoral field to establish her business in. She replied, "I didn’t choose it. It chose me … " "I was forced to change careers back in 2000 after working in early childhood development for twenty-six years. I recall sitting in my living room floor after my mom has suffered a stroke and praying this very prayer, “God, I need a job, preferably close to home in case anything happens to mom. I’m not concerned too much with how much it pays, but I need to work with families.” "I had the classifieds laid out in front of me and the very first ad read, “Part time receptionist needed – Grapevine. Please call ….” It was the telephone number to J.E. Foust & Son Funeral Home -- the very funeral home that we used when my sister was killed in a car accident. I couldn’t believe it. I replied to the ad and was hired. Soon after starting I was soon transferred to another funeral home in Colleyville, Texas and my personal journey of loss began. My daughters were beginning to leave home and step into their own adult lives. One of them was a soldier and deployed to Iraq, another had moved to Washington, also for military reasons and I had two sons-in-law in the military. "During this time, my mother-in-law and sister-in-law died. My dog of 15 years had to be put to sleep. My other died and my marriage of thirty-three years ended. My life was forever changed. "Prior to these heart-breaking incidents, I had experienced my father’s death by suicide back in 1991. "My personal story goes way beyond what I can type without getting too emotional, but I can say that I know what it is like to not deal with grief. "I know what it is like to turn to alcohol to mask the pain and I know what it’s like to be forgiven and redeemed. I want to help others avoid making big mistakes in their grieving process. My passion is showing compassion and helping them forgive themselves for any regrets they may have, or poor decisions they've made along the way, and to help them get really clear on rebuilding their future. For now...Destination Unlimited is currently based in Tarrant County, Texas but it may soon include an expansion into Corpus Christi and the bay area of coastal Texas. Kim is hoping that in time others that share her passion might be inclined to partner with her endeavors. She says, coaching isn't therapy and it isn't for the faint-hearted. For those who are feeling the desire to be entrepreneurs and considering making the jump into owning their own businesses, Kim's advice is ... "If God has placed a dream in your heart, you are already anointed to step into that destiny. He loves to take ordinary people and help them do extraordinary things! "There are steps to fulfilling a dream, and like most steps, there is a staircase to climb before reaching the top. Jesus took steps to reach His destiny. His steps were a series of rejection, abandonment, physical abuse, denial, and yet He performed many miracles despite what He endured. "I believe that we were all created with a purpose and a destiny. The journey is not always easy and we learn how to apply Biblical principles and to forgive others for the hurts they may have caused us along the way. "Just take the steps. Trust in the process … and never give up on your dreams." Finish Line ...Thank you for our visit today and for taking the time to get acquainted with this amazing lady and her wonderful business. Thank you as well for your consistent support of the indie biz community and networking within it.

Wow, femme! Kim certainly has had many losses to face in life. I think it's wonderful that she's turning those losses in to ways to help others. Many people would have given up, or spent the rest of their lives being bitter and feeling sorry for themselves. Kim has turned pain into a positive. What a woman!

So very-very true: "We have all suffered loss of some sort. A job, a relationship, our health, and sometimes during a substantial loss we can even lose sight of our own identity in the process."
