I had to have it ... I kept seeing passages from it floating around on the social sites. Apparently, they'd moved the reader enough to share them. Each one I read grabbed my attention and held onto it way longer than it took me to read it. A facebook friend went a step further and began posting small segments every day on her facebook page. I found myself visiting her page frequently, anxiously seeking them out and soaking them up. I found a banquet of wonderful blessings from reading each of them, such as love, encouragement, direction, understanding, empathy, compassion, strength, motivation and much more. It wasn't long after seeing them sprinkled here and there among users on the social sites that I realized I wanted my own copy. I wanted to be able to read the sections whenever I wanted, and especially to incorporate them into my morning bible study. I bought the Kindle version and I've read it every day since then. Each segment of the book is dated and I stick to reading that passage on the date it specifies. Why? Because each section is fresh and deep and although I'd love to leap ahead to see what will be said for the next day's section, I just can't do it. It feels as if it would spoil a grand surprise that God intended for me to open and have on a particular day. I have the same consistent method in reading Streams in the Desert, which also makes up a key portion of my morning scripture study. While both books are Christian devotionals, they're completely different in style and delivery, yet compliment each other beautifully. Of course, the anchor to both books is the Holy Bible, and I bring my own to the table each morning as well. It is one of the most moving and inspirational books I've ever owned and I'll be reading and re-reading it on a daily schedule for a long, long time to come. About the author, Sarah Young ... Sarah Young was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She's well traveled and attended school both in the U.S. and abroad. She met her husband, Steve, at Covenant Seminary and working together, the couple has ministered in churches and counseling in several areas of Australia and China. Sarah's own prayer life began to sprout new leaves when she incorporated a daily devotional titled God Calling, written by two women (two listeners) in the 1930s. It chronicles the responses given to them from God through prayer and bible study. The link is embedded for you in case you want to check it out. I don't own it yet, but I'm sure it won't be long before I do. It's on my must have list. ☺ I would tell you where it went from there but once again, I don't want to spoil the surprise for those of you who are intrigued enough to check out Sarah's short bio at the beginning of the book. It's seriously fascinating so please don't skip past it or you'll miss something truly special! Worth its weight in whatever you buy it with ... If I had a physical copy of this book, and needed to travel, I'd have to make room for it in my luggage. It's one of the three books I'd be compelled to take with me if my schedule meant being away from home for more than a day.
I'd encourage everyone who loves inspiring literature to at least check out a sampling of this book, and to please remember that it's another one that would make for a beautiful gift, especially to a friend who is in need of comfort, counsel, positive influence and gentle direction. It's loaded with remarkable content that will provide a fitting and meaningful read to young-adults and up. The finish line ... On a last note, I'm wayyyyy happy to report that Sibling Synergy readership has grown by more than 2K visitors in the last two months, which is indeed a fantastic answer to my own prayers.
This month marks us at more than 16,ooo unique visitors, and just under 17,000 pages viewed. I got so excited when we reached 10K viewers I could barely contain myself and now, we're already seeing 20K blooming on the horizon. Since this is how I earn my living, that's a huge-whopping blessing and I'm very, very grateful to be able to do what I do with this site, promoting works, places and people that I feel compelled to share with you. So .... thank you for your presence here and for allowing us to be a part of what goes on in your life a few times a week. It doesn't go unnoticed! See ya Thursday at femme's Desk ... 'Til then, God bless you, thank you for the read and please don't forget to thank a veteran at your next opportunity! femmeflashpoint
