Like the organization’s homepage says, Leaping Bunny’s purpose is connecting compassionate consumers with cruelty-free companies. If you're not familiar with Leaping Bunny, let me give you the short of it on who this organization is and how they came to be. Back in the mid-1990s more and more consumers were moving away from companies associated with animal testing of their products. In maneuvering to maintain their appeal to these consumers, businesses attempted to woo them with assurances of cruelty-free production. Problem was, what the businesses considered to be cruelty-free didn't always match the standards of animal protection groups and some were just outright dishonest about including animal testing in their procedures. Many of them were even providing a bunny logo of their own making to enchant consumers with their products and assure them no monkey-business (or vivisection) was happening behind the scenes for testing mascara, hairspray, anti-aging lotions, floor cleaners, air fresheners and so on. To ensure businesses were advertising truthfully, eight national animal protection groups united with a common cause and established the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics.. The group then established (and promotes) a complete, comprehensive standard of cruelty-free practices and is easily recognized around the globe by their unique Leaping Bunny logo. Since then they've become a go-to source and liaison between businesses and consumers, helping to ensure honesty in business practices and making it easier for consumers to find cruelty-free products to invest in, covering everything from household cleaners, to clothing, to health and beauty products and more. The A ListsThe Avoid list might surprise you if you decided to dive in for a bit of research on some of your favorite products. Thankfully investigators are consistently making it more difficult for businesses to hide these practices. Leaping Bunny has been one of the organizations largely responsible for helping to ensure transparency in businesses regarding cruelty-free methods of operation. If you're unsure of the business practices behind the products you use, you can easily find out their certification status via the Leaping Bunny website’s search option. The other A list is growing by leaps and bounds (pun intended!). And, thanks to PETA and Leaping Bunny, the businesses and products are easy to find. Below are a couple of links for you to articles with to help familiarize you with many of them that made the Cruelty-Free Awesome-Sauce list in 2016. ShoutOutsThe wrap! Before I close, I want to again extend a big thanks to the tippers out there for your help in keeping the pro-blogging community thriving.
