Back in 2014, Robert Roush (of Hearts of Compassion Publishing) got my attention with his first speculative fiction novel, In the Image of Man. I loved the story line, the characters, that the author was donating the proceeds to a not for profit organization. I also hoped there'd be a sequel.
Several weeks ago, Mr. Roush emailed me to let me know a sequel was soon to be available and sent me a complimentary copy for review. The newest book in the Unseen Dominion series, Restoration's Journey, didn't disappoint. It's just as action packed as the first book in the series and brings on a whole new group of lovable and despicable characters.
Mr. Roush takes his readers across the river and through the woods with a little girl who's running for her life, making each mile of her journey on a wing and a prayer. She didn't plan it but was thrown into it without warning or consent. She's having to outrun and outsmart death. As alone as she feels, she isn't. An unseen companion is providing supernatural protection for the extraordinary child in her care. The girl's is Ima and Ima is a MIM--a manufactured image of man, grown in a subterranean laboratory.
Of all the clones produced in the lab, a place of death and destruction for hundreds of MIMs, Ima is different and has never fit in. To her credit, that's a good thing.
Although she possesses unnatural strength and physical resilience like the other MIMs, Ima can do things they can't. She can think for herself, ask questions, make deductions, contrive theories and estimations. She also experiences deep emotions.
Her differences have caused her heaps of heartache and loads of trouble. She's been hated for these very non-MIM attributes from her beginning and despised most of all by a particularly nasty being named Orphois.
Orphois is a demon.
He has his heart set on either possessing Ima's body or killing her. If he can't manage the first, he'll settle for the second.
The good news is, although Orphois is a demon of incredible power and cunning combat skills, Ima hasn't been left defenseless. Eitan, the Captain of the Host of Heaven, has assigned an especially skilled warrior to both protect and even educate Ima as she both flees and begins her journey. The warrior's name is Adiya and she is no stranger to battle. She not only exhibits great courage and immense prowess in battle, she's deeply compassionate and immediately bonds with Ima.
With God guiding, the two make their way through unfamiliar territory and face life threatening difficulties nearly every mile of the way. Thankfully, for all the trouble Ima and Adiya encounter, the good experiences and good people they meet along the way, provide shelter, encouragement and confirmation that they're on the right path to accomplishing the mission assigned to them, although neither of them are sure exactly what the mission is in entirety. They can only move by faith and in response to the gentle nudges from God and follow the path He's set out for them to journey on.
I hope I've sufficiently enticed you to get your own copy of Restoration's Journey. It's available on amazon.com for only $3.99 USD. It's a meaty book packed with excitement and adventure from start to finish.
Mr. Roush's book proceeds (as much as 70%) will be forwarded to a not for profit organization, one of his favorites being Living Water International.
His website is well-developed (he uses Weebly, woohoo!) and there you can learn more about his work, his family and why he writes books.
He's also awesome at responding to fan mail, which gets him big points from flashPress.
His website houses a blog that has interesting content so please check that out as well when you visit his net-based office in the Weeblyhood.
What I found lacking on his site is a TIP JAR! But, never know ... maybe he'll read this and consider it. ☺
Before you fly off to your next task, read, visit or whatever, please take a few moments to check out these links to articles by a few other indie biz bloggers. Your time and interest are always appreciated!
God bless you, thanks for the read and see you next week!

flashPress is a totally free site, but, if you like it and would like to leave a tip, I'll surely put it to good use on things like food, clothes, fuel for my auto, soap to shower with, etc. I think those qualify for seriously good use. ☺
