Just after January 1 of 2017, my sister and her husband decided to move to a raw-vegan diet. I’ve been predominantly vegan for a couple of years now. When I say predominantly, I mean no animal products other than eggs (occasionally), and the rare use of cheese, which I’ve since stopped completely.
I was curious as to how it would work out for them, what their results would be and how long it would last. Loads of folks make these sorts of dietary changes and in two days, they’re jumping off the wagon to dive deeply into a hot serving of steak and potatoes topped with oozing cheese and crispy bacon.
That wasn’t the case this time. Although they’ve not maintained it totally, they’ve kept what they eat to be at least 90% raw and vegan.
As for me, nearly every day, I was in habit of ingesting at least something that’d been cooked. My day even starts with something cooked, being my much loved, anticipated and thoroughly enjoyed, brewed coffee.
Nonetheless, I found myself following along with the family's transition and having raw-vegan meals, too.
Didn't take long to notice some wonderful changes.
Sometimes numb. Sometimes painful. Always uncomfortable.
Before gravitating to raw foods, I’d been having trouble with neuropathy in my feet for about two years. It wasn’t as advanced as it is with some close friends who describe their symptoms as nearly excruciating.
My symptoms were a mixture of annoying sensations.
Sometimes it felt like pins and needles pressing into the bottoms of my feet. Sometimes it felt like my socks were wrinkled or bunched up in my shoes. Other times, my feet just felt numb.
The sensations happened whether I was sitting, standing, lying down, walking, jogging, and in or out of shoes.
The trouble decreased when I stood in the lawn in bare feet, but it didn't provide a permanent fix. Thankfully, being on the lawn in barefeet wasn't needed. Less than one week after moving to the nearly all raw-vegan diet, I noticed the neuropathy issues in both of my feet had disappeared.
No kidding. That fast.
It was pretty much, poof! and and the symptoms were gone.
Other cool results
💎Alicia and her husband both reported having less inflammation and less arthritis-related pain within only a couple of days of sticking to raw-vegan foods.
💎I’d been having consistent trouble with nausea so often, I was having to keep a steady supply of crystallized ginger or ginger ale on hand to combat it with, especially after eating. Since the raw-vegan move, the bouts of nausea have become rare.
💎Some symptoms associated with menopause have been much less acute for me.
So, if you’ve ever considered giving raw vegan a try because you want to feel better, hope this helps you decide to give it a chance, even if it’s just a one raw, vegan meal a day thing.
We are “fearfully and wonderfully made”, and these amazing bodies of ours can take a little bit of good done for them and maximize on it to produce big, healthy differences.
