Like the organization’s homepage says, Leaping Bunny’s purpose is connecting compassionate consumers with cruelty-free companies. If you're not familiar with Leaping Bunny, let me give you the short of it on who this organization is and how they came to be. Back in the mid-1990s more and more consumers were moving away from companies associated with animal testing of their products. In maneuvering to maintain their appeal to these consumers, businesses attempted to woo consumers with assurances of their cruelty-free production and operating standards. Problem was, what the businesses considered to be cruelty-free didn't always match the standards of animal protection groups. Many were even downright dishonest with consumers, ensuring them they weren’t engaged in animal testing while behind the scenes they were. To help ensure businesses were advertising truthfully, eight national animal protection groups united with a common cause and established the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics. Then they designed a began promoting a complete standard of cruelty-free practices and are internationally recognized by their Leaping Bunny logo. Since then they've become a go-to source and liaison between businesses and consumers helping to ensure honesty in business practices and making it easier for consumers to find cruelty-free products to invest in. The A ListsThe Avoid List might surprise you if you decided to dive in for a bit of research on some of your favorite products. Thankfully investigators are consistently making it more difficult for businesses to hide these practices. Leaping Bunny has been one of the organizations largely responsible for helping to ensure transparency in businesses regarding cruelty-free methods of operation. If you're unsure of the business practices behind the products you use, you can easily find out their certification status via the Leaping Bunny website’s search option. The Awesome-Sauce Cruelty-Free List (that’d be the other A List) has a growing number of businesses and products on it. To help consumers Leaping Bunny has developed an app for you to easily investigate the products you use and new ones of interest. Also, here are a few links with lists of businesses and products who made the list in 2016.
Below is a short vid for you by Leaping Bunny. I hope you've found the information helpful and that you'll share it with others you may think will benefit from it, too.
