There’s a new, fun site in the indie biz community called, Music Helper. The business is owned and operated by Cheryl Johnson, of Longview, Texas a long-time musician who plays multiple instruments but has a special love and preference for the bass. The site offers information on a variety of topics, all tied together neatly with music. Some of the content is devoted to helping folks new to music learn what to expect from starter instruments and deciding which might be the best instrument(s) for them them to first learn to play. You can find that information in the Choose Your Type area, that’s broken down into three sections of easy to follow information. ResourcesCheryl also includes information and links to one of her favorite musical instrument and equipment resources, which is zZounds. She often buys music products she uses herself from zZounds and has been very impressed with their quality selection and ease of shopping with them online. She’s not limiting her suggestions to zZounds only but also referring clients to items on Amazon when they’ve got the same, or similar product offered by zZounds but perhaps at a better price. Beyond those two, she’s in a position to also offer other places to purchase music related items when she discovers them like independent manufacturers, repair services, tuning services and even people to go to for lessons. From Products to PeoplePast the items that can be presented on the site are the people who play them, those who record them and those who sing along with them. There are often amazingly gifted musicians having coffee on a nearby stool or maybe the same booth with us at a local diner, or maybe we see them driving a tractor while discing a field to ready it for spring planting. Maybe they drive your kid’s school bus or are a janitor at their school. Millions of us rub elbows with these non-famous, but locally known and celebrated artists on a frequent basis. I’m excited over the possibility of them being highlighted or featured in upcoming editions of the Music Helper blog. The blog will publish weekly on Thursdays. There are two editions thus far and both are short in content and written with an emerging style that I’m thoroughly enjoying. One of the most treasured aspects of my heritage is Southern music, and especially Southern Gospel, that dates back to more than eight generations, spanning close to two centuries. Cheryl shares a similar heritage and I see nuances of those influences emerging in her writing. Even if you’re not in the market to buy a new instrument, or aren’t needing a new set of strings for your fiddle (which is on my wish list, strings and a fiddle to play them on), a new set of glow-in-the-dark drumsticks (thinking about putting those on my wish list, too) the Music Helper site is still worth subscribing to, simply for the cool blog posts and if you’re inclined to be supportive of an indie biz owner, please consider leaving a tip in her virtual tip jar, located in the right side-bar of her blog page. (It’s likely near the bottom of the page on a mobile device), both small and large tips are always appreciated and add up, providing a well-earned income for pro bloggers and vloggers via PayPal. Speaking of pro-blogging, Music Helper is the newest member of the Tips for Talent Club and as a member myself, I’m taking this opportunity to publicly welcome the site to the club. I see boocoos of potential for this site, and hope you’ll stop by for a visit, have a look around, and maybe leave a comment on her blog or contact page, to welcome her to the indie biz community. There is plenty of room for growth and the more members we have, the stronger we are, the more products and services we have to offer and increase the opportunities to work independently in our own businesses. ShoutOutsFinish Line! That’s it for this one!
My thanks for the birthday wishes from last week, through the weekend and even those I received at the start of this week. Another number on the mile-marker is always much easier to to be excited about with kind regards to ease me along my way. God has been good to me and I often experience His love resonating through the precious people He has placed in my life. You are appreciated and I'm grateful you're here and sharing this part of journey with me. God bless you, thanks for the read and see you next Tuesday. femmeflashpoint
